Default Powertrain and overheating warning come on instantly.

My 2006 xtype went dead. I boosted it off, but it was running strangely and the radio, and instrument panel was malfunctioning, as well as extreme misfiring. I cut it off.

When I tried to crank it back up the powertrain and overheating lights came on as soon as I turned the key, and it will not let the engine turn over at all, other than one random occasion.

Ant ideas what the problem may be?

Hi,

This happened to me, very dangerous. Ran out of petrol, not on main highway thank goodness. No power steering, lights, everything died. Luckily it was heading’ near side to I cruised it to a stop. V6 petrol Auto 03, literally couldn’t put the thing into neutral or park, frightening really. Walked a few K’s feeling like a lemon for not filling up, Dad said that’s where all the sediment goes through the injection system, the fuel tank having lots of corrosion at the dregs of it. These cars are thirsty and I was not exactly flush, working to pay the finance and feed the family. Still why the electrics went is a complete mystery to me, it never happened again. I did give this guy in a truck a jump start, that was stupid as I think it fried the electrics. Headlights often blew, you have to practically dislocate you hand to replace the one on the battery side! Or remove the battery just to replace the bulb. Have you tried a new battery? Also get the loom looked over by a specialist mech who does electrics, you may well cure a few things.

Hope this is of any help.
