Default Rattling behind the clocks

Hi folkes, while driving my x type 04 reg there is a noise coming from behind my speedo or it could be the rev counter (its always made this noise ever since iv'e had the car), it happens at all speeds and sounds like someone is shaking vigorously a box of matches the noise is not loud but is very annoying its like in the old speedo cable when the inner is rattling against the outer and needed greasing it also seems to be speed related.. i read somewhere before about this but cant find it - it definately isnt the air conditioning sensor to the left of the steering wheel, its definately coming from behind the clocks does anyone else have this prob and is there a fix without paying mega bucks at the dealers. Thanks for replies

If I am not mistaken this is the humidity sensor and fan behind the dash. Usually makes a sort of ticking sound (similar to a computer hard drive) or can make a hustling sound. In my case I can't hear it if the climate control is turned on - which in my case is always so.

I recall my previous Acura TL having a slight dashboard rattle. It was my first new car so I did everything in my power to fix it. Yet it remained! At some point rattles from other areas over came it.... but it was crazy! I'd have paid $500 to make it go away. It was the only thing between perfection. later I learnt, it was a common thing associated with how the wires were packed back there!
