Default Rear o2 sensor bank 1 and Rear Cat Converter Bank 1

Are those two located right by each other?
Both are by the firewall on the right side but I was guessing the sensor is accessible by removing the manifold and the cat is accessible by removing the subframe, so requiring two different jobs?
Thank you!

sean, yes, both sensors are near the firewall. Granted, one is fairly high on the wall, the other is kinda under the car some as I recall.

You are correct in that getting to the cat requires pulling the sub-frame to get it out. Where the upstream sensor can be pulled by accessing through an intake removal. You could always pull the engine. LMAO. Just kidding.

Thanks Thermo!
So there is no way to get the two jobs done working from the bottom and would require two separate labor charges, right? Is that the right sensor to replace for CEL w/ P2097? I know the code is for post-cat efficiency bank 1, but thinking the code is on because the front o2 sensor is not properly functioning, therefore, causing the wrong mixture of air and fuel to flag the rear sensor rather?

Sean, yes, you can access it from the bottom and therefore could have the one labor charge. But, keep in mind that most places will charge you the labor charge as if they were doing the jobs at two different times.

As for your error code, I guess I am a little confused at the moment. From my info, the Jaguar P Codes only go up to 1799. So, I am not sure how you got the P2097 code. If you have a problem with the upstream sensor, you should be getting the P1646 code most likely.

It is possible that the downstream sensor is bad and that is making the car think that the cat is not working (because it is sending the computer a very low voltage indicating that it is getting fuel out the exhaust). So, the downstream sensor can be the source of what you are seeing.

Thanks again.
I'm also getting P0420 (cat converter bank 1) so my shop told me that I need a new cat and a new o2 sensor bank 1, but charging me additional 2 hour labor just for the sensor on top of 5.5 hour for the cat work.

Or maybe he's talking about pre-cat o2 sensor bank 1, which I think is by the radiator?

Sean, if they are replacing the cat, then they have to pull the O2 sensor out at the same time as the sensor is mounted in the side of the cat. It doesn't take an extra 2 hours for that. They will have the sensor already removed with the cat and screwing in the new one only takes but 5 minutes if you are slow. But ,again, I point out that they are basing the job off of what the shop hours for each job individually takes, not based on reality. But, this is also how the mechanics get paid as they (as a general rule) get paid based on the job, not by how long it really takes. So, a good mechanic can get paid for 10 hours of work and only work 6 actual hours for example.

Did changing the Catalytic Converter fix this issue with the P2097 code ?
