My wife's 03 X type Jaguar has developed the reversing lights and parking aid problem, the car has very low mileage 36,000k so the engine and transmission is spotless. I looked at the switch and it is also very clean around the gear box cowling, I guess I should have tested the circuit by shorting the wiring as I did take the connection off the switch but I did not just re-plugged it and all was still the same. I bought a new switch at £10.99 ($17.62) so hope I have done the right thing. Really putting the cart before the horse!

TOny, odds are, that is your problem. I Have seen a few cars with this issue and all that I can recall the switch fixed things. IF it doesn't, let me know and I will give you things to check with a multimeter and we will get your fixed up.

 

Many thanks Chris appreciate your offer of assistance, I will get the switch by weekend and fit/test the circuits and will get back to you one way or the other. Must admit I love the Jaguars never let me down under arduous conditions anyway the MK11 S-series (she always leaking oil on the sump) we have had this X type 3 years now so will see with time anyway thanks Chris.
