Ruined driver door linkage
Hey guys, sorry I got 3 topics out there, but I am working on getting the car as immaculate as I can so different things arise
so the drivers door- for years now- has been hard to open from outside. I have to push in a bit an play for it to open, but it always opened. I changed out my front speakers today which went well, but I decided to be cute and adjust the linkage since the door cards when already out
Long story short , I mangaged to pop of the link from the handle. Completely unable to open drivers door now.
if anyone has an idea of what I did and how to solve it I would greatly appreciate it. I haven’t been able to find a matching topic on the archives for this level of idiocy.
Thanks

Spike, let me get home and look at my references. From what I know, you should have just a fork that a ball of lead sits in and if you had some play, the ball could have slipped out, causing the handle to go limp. It may be helpful at this point to remove the handle from the door and see how the linkage connects That way, you may be able to temporarily connect the inside latch, pull on that to give you some room so with your other hand, you can get the slack in the cable to put back on the door handle. Granted, this is where a second person would be helpful as you may even be able to have hte door handle removed and get the cable to stick out some from the door to make installation a bit easier. But, I am being hopeful on that one.
So what happened here is that I broke the handle trying to adjust the linkage. I have one arriving in the mail in the same color from a breaker and I will have my body shop install it since I clearly this in not my strong point
