Default Rust on X-Type

I noticed that there is rust located on the front passenger side: rocker panel area. Has anyone else experienced this? I bought the car 2 years ago from private party and was (and is) in immaculate condition otherwise and I am baffled how rust developed.
Took it in for two estimates and the body shops theorize that it may be a factory defect?
My questions are:
1. Has another had any luck dealing with Jaguar on assisting on the repair? I know that rust only covers x years.
2. Best way to make sure that a repair on this will not reappear.

I am a new member and I really appreciate your feedback.
I am located in Chicagoland area.

Konstantine

the rust under the rocker panel is a really common area for these cars to rust from. Jaguar doesn't really care about the rust anymore because the majority of the warranties for these cars have already expired. You could always try to call them and complain and see if that helps, but because this is such a common problem I don't think they will help you out all that much. I have no advice pertaining to stopping the rust because as soon as I bought my car I checked and cleaned the rocker panels. I also always make sure to wash the underside of the rocker panel with fresh water during the winter months.

I really appreciate the prompt reply and assurance. Will get this fixed.

I have upgraded both my headlights and fog lights with 6000k hid's. I bought the whole hid kit on ebay for less than $35 including the ballasts. I would highly recommend hids in the fog lights especially for the price that you can find them nowadays

Mind providing a link?

I love me some Ebay but searching for LIGHTS takes forever as the site is just crammed with soooo many kits, etc.

Would love to know what you got exactly? HIDs in the fogs would be awesome.

Get it sprayed every year. Some people like the electronic rust-proofing but I've never read enough positive reviews that made me want to get it.

Also, from a lot of experience from family and a friend who works at Honda canada in quality control confirmed this: having your car get covered in snow & salt then parking it where all of that melts can be very hard on it.

This is opposed to just leaving it outside where the snow & salt will stay frozen and won't turn into salt water.

The coating with snow/salt while driving, parking inside, it melting off, then repeating this process can really speed up any corrosion.

I couldn't find the place that I bought mine from, but anywhere you buy an hid kit, they will be built in the same factory in china. These actually look a little better than the ones I put into my fog lights. The only thing you have to understand is that you will have to cut a hole in the back of the factory h1 halogen fog light mount in order to install the hid bulb. there is a write-up on this forum as well.
