Default Security/Safety Shutdown, now car wont start

Hi all,

So I'm in a little bit of trouble, I was simply doing some upgrading in the car for my new head unit and I was installing both a reversing camera and microphone in the car. Mid way through I saw that the odometer was reading ------ and the trip distance was also reading ----. I tried to start the car but nothing, not even a clunk. The radio still works fine, lights work, all the dash warning lights come up but nothing after that.

I have already tried pressing the inertia switch in the foot well of driver side (Aus car) but nothing happened. I've tried jump starting the car and resetting the key fob.

I can tell you that I have removed the interior A-Pillar trim, sun visor and overhead console of the car to install the microphone. I have also had to fiddle around with a few relays and fuses because I shorted one of them out doing all my work. Not too sure if any of these would relate to the issue I'm having.

Seriously, any suggestions would be great right now because I am dumbfounded.

Cheers.

Try disconnecting the battery for 15-20 mins?
Maybe put it back to stock and see if it will start?
Check your grounds?

It might be a fuse? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ram-faq-10712/

Here's the Electrical Guide: http://jaguar.bttlxe.com/xtype/Elect...ec%20Guide.pdf

Hope you don't have to take it to the dealer.

Hi, first off has your car got sat nav or not? If not, have you disconnected the climate control panel? If this is not plugged in the car will not start.

Hi Jagryan85, you hit the spot exactly. I've just put everything back together and the car works just as it should. After all these hours of checking fuses, reprogramming the keyfob and all that.

How does that work, if you have the climate control panel removed the car won't work? (Also I don't have a sat nav)

Thanks so much!

No problem! As for the reason i dont have a clue! I was doing what you was a while back and mid way had to pick the mrs up and nothing! Strange really why it wouldn't work! Anyway after plugging in the climate unit back in she just came alive again! Winner

It's one of the components in the Communications Network. Ignition ON validates the modules are present, correctly coded to the vehicle and operational:

When the Network is interrupted, starting is inhibited for safety and security reasons.
