serpentine belt

That's pretty unusual for one to just snap and let go. Not impossible, but odd. How many miles are on it?
You can get to it somewhat easily. Get the passenger side just off of the ground and on a jackstand, and remove the front right wheel. Remove the inner fender plastic shield, and you'll be able to see most of what you need to get to. The rest you should be fairly easy to see from the top.
I've got mine off right now for other reasons, but have a good drawing of how it goes back together that I'll scan for you.
You'll need a 3/8 drive rachet with a very short extension to plug into the tension, to pry it aside to feed the new belt on.

Reviving an old thread because my belt failed the same way. Out of car I can see there was 1/4 wide strip about 20inch long that shredded away. And BTW, as the flopping part was going around it took out the crank position sensor thus caused instant limp mode.
This happened at 89,000miles, original belt.
Does anybody know the original belt dimensions? Width and length? Trying to source Gates equivalent. Thanks ahead.

I got it done today. I had to cut and reweld the pulley tensioner tool as the orientation of the square hole was 45 deg off from the tool. Lessons learned:
1. 3/8 breaker bar will fit and allow you to take off the belt. However it will not fit again for you to put the new belt on. Get the tensioner tool which is nice and thin.
2. after the old belt is loosen and tension released, unbolt the tensioner completely to get the belt unlooped around it.
3. when threading the new belt, get it fitted to all pulley but the crankshaft pulley. Save this for the last as it has the best access.
4. with the belt loose around the crankshaft pulley, completely bolt down the tensioner, torque to 45 Nm.
5. with a helper applying pressure to the pulley tensioner, get two tire spoons to help you get the belt around the crankshaft pulley.
6. make sure the belt is correctly seated before attempting step 5. Use a flashlight to verify on all upper pulleys.
And yes, this all should be done by putting car on jack stand with front right wheel and wheel liner taken off. I hope this helps others.
Inspect your belt occasionally as any part of belt that comes detached will knock out the crankshaft position sensor. Who designed it this way anyway?!
