Default Silver X Type Black Vinyl Roof, Ideas/Opinions?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I know you all love to see some new mods for the X-Type, So I was thinking what else can I add on to make her stand out just a bit more in the parking lot.

Jeremy (exepat) showed me that vinyl can be used in so many ways, (check side marker). The color match impressed me, along with the durability in weather and washing the car. Thanks Bro!

So I was staring at my ride after a wash and thought:

What about a black roof? I see more and more of the black roof that either comes with the car or is painted aftermarket.

I want to use a Flat Black 3M Vinyl.

Even more what do you think about this 3M Carbon Fiber look Vinyl?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z3mb85nxdY

The Carbon fiber might look cheezy, so I came to you guys.

So what do you guys think? I know a white car with black roof looks nice. What about the Silver X Type w Black Roof? I want to hear your opinions and I truly value them being X-Type owners/enthusiast yourselves.
My Girl says its a coin toss on how its gonna look. I myself think its kinda neat but might take away or look wrong.

Thanks for your thoughts ahead of time, Much appreciated.

- Dave

Like you said, on a white car yes. But on a silver car, its ify. I think something like this is up to personal taster but I would just stay with a paint matched roof.

^x2. It would look like an odd attempt at a landau style roof usually reserved for large Cadillacs, Lincolns, limos and the like. Perhaps if you are thinking of trying out for the new season of "Jersey Shore" it would be appropriate.

j/k - do what you like of course.

Well the newer m3's come with them painted stock. If so it wasn't vinyl, but if it was one of the older m3's then it probably was vinyl. Anyways please post pics, cause I'm super curious to see what it will look like. Goodluck!

I'm not fealing this one. Seems a bit Lancer-ish unless you do high gloss paint and make the roof appear to be glass. Carbon fiber even seems out of place on our decidedly non-race cars.

Inspector Morse, from the British TV series, drives a red Jag with a black roof.

Flat black would look lame on an X Type.......... Gloss black might look good (if your windows are tinted as well)

I'll play. Two tone paint color maybe (I've been considering it) but vinyl roof? Not for me. Can anyone do a photoshop and let's see what it might look like?

Yeah that's what I was thinking.. That's how everyone does theirs. He means like this (below) Lets keep the laughter down to a minimum I know this is not to scale lol and I did it quick with paint so you can get the idea, Hopefully someone can do a better job. As for the mod I need to see pics or to see it in real life to see if I like it or not so meh..

I love editing car images. I think I'll do one of two things in this chop (sorry, not the black roof)...

This is why you cant do the black roof on an X Type...

If it was a smooth flowing line, yes. Not so much on the X.

DO IT on the slamming Jeremy!
