Default Stuck hood (bonnet) locks

The locks will not activate to clamp the hood down. The cable is not broken nor is the in car release at fault. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

MtnJag, spray the hood latches really good with WD-40. You can then manually roll the latches using a screw driver to ensure all the necessary parts get lubed. You can then pull the lever and this will open the latches back up to allow shutting the hood.

Good advice. Garages when servicing usually give these catches a liberal squirt of grease. Dust and dirt from the road then turns this grease into a sticky mess.. I clean mine off as suggested and then lightly oil. Do this every time I think about it. Perhaps every couple of months.

but WD40 leaves no residual lubrication. There are far better products available which both act as a freeing agent and a lubricant. One of these, the best I have ever found, is actually also a rust inhibitor (Rust Check)...harmless to electrical components and paint, a super-effective freeing agent, and an amazing lubricant. I have no affiliation with it but I have used it for years in all sorts of applications.
the hood latches on this car obviously need lubrication, once freed.
