Default bad motor?

Ok well you have a few things it can be. First. Is it making any noise when you push the button? If not check the fuses. If fuses are good. Chances are the motor is done. If its grinding then you could have stripped a gear, or I had one where a mouse got up in the roof ( don't know how) and made a nest in the padding up there and the padding got in the track and locked up the roof. Let us know what you find out

Good luck
The Dr

Loso, Dr is on the right track. I would start with checking to make sure the fuses are good. But, after that, you can possibly have a bad switch or a bad motor. If you want to diagnose it further, let me know what year car you have (if it is a 2004, I will also need to know the month the car was made which is listed in the door jam of the car) and I will give you point by point checks you can make to get down to a specific failed component. I will also need to know is whether you have a multimeter and whether you know how to use one. If you don't know how to use one, don't worry, I can deal with this.

Default it closed

my brother was the one who it went out on. he said there was no clicking noise when he pushed the button? he did manage to close it though. everytime we have had a problem with the car we hit google and this forum. i guess he figured out how to close it manually with the allen wrench? not even i read about that one. he said it was hard to do but its definetly closed now. i see motors run $400. since i have the car for sell and a potential buyer ima have to knock down the price a bit.

Default Open sunroof not closing

I have the same issue. Fist bump for your brother finding a solution!! Where is the allen key to close the sunroof manually, and where does the allen key fit?

If your looking for a sun roof motor I may have one. I will have to look in my boxes of stuff. Let me know and I will give you a good price on it.

Thanks,
The Dr!

My 2002 just decided to open the roof about 2 " and then, pop! You can hear the motor running and there is clicking as if a belt or chain has come off a track and it is still passing by and catching on a gear. I have been wanting to take the roof liner out and sound dampen the roof, so I am not too disappointed, yet. Ha Ha. I think the car will quite down considerably if I do that modification. I know the rear noise was reduced a great deal when I dampened the spare wheel well and the side rear quarter panels. I'm still looking on the site for a sun roof fix. Please let me know if you have an excellent thread...
