Very nice. I may use this once I get this Jag.

So is this the same exact 3.0 that is in the Jags? Did you cross reference the part numbers on the two different ECUs to make sure they were the same?

It's a big pain in the *** doing it that way, I did it that way. I had to remove it again. It's a lot easier going from the bottom.

Default Reverse Swap

Very Impressive job---but you broke my heart. I thought you were going to show how to do the job on the V-8. (I'm in process of going the other way, by installing an AJ27 in an LS.

Clear 'til I get it done. I'm also trying to get a small business going at the same time and the money necessary to finish the engine has mostly been going into the business. I did just get such things as a couple of sets of cam blanks and a pan with pick-ups installed for going to a dry-sump.

Ive already sold this Jag....... it was a real easy swap! No computer changes. I used the original electronics and just swaped a few parts over from one engine to another....weekend job and no special tools but the engine lift.

Now you all know, dont say jag at the parts store say FORD..cheaper parts and its in stock.

I will check this post from time to time,if you have any Q's.

stellar write up!!!! This is a very good thing to keep in mind if my engine goes to crap seeing as the ls engines are probably cheaper than the x type engines.

Default Trans

Hey there, I might have missed it, but was your X-Type a manual or auto trans?

Very impressive work! For a moment I was wondering why you'd put that engine in until I saw you had a 2.5L.

Nearly every day I drive my 3.0 sport I think i wish i had more powweerrrr!

Great job! I plan on doing the same project with my 2000 Jaguar S-Type 4.0 with a Lincoln ls 3.9. From what I've found the swap can be done, I will start the project sometime in the next week or so.

Default Pondering something similar

Just bought an s type 3.0 with 182,000 miles. I believe I've blown the oil pan gasket in this past week and am not thrilled. In as much as the car has considerable mileage, I am entertaining the thought taking the opportunity to rebuild the engine. Could my s type 3.0 be rebuilt onto an ls block?

I'm not surprised about the compatibility. I've tried to tell multiple people my 2000 s-type 3.0 has the same trans as a 2000 Lincoln LS 3.0. But because of the lack of cross-reference made available, people swapping Ford parts from Fords into their Jaguars with Ford drive-trains will be the narrow road. I barely started rebuilding my LS trans but I'm making my part swap too, however my swap is identicle. Good job and enjoy!

you said you kept your old ecu on, i'm guessing that is the one off the 2.5? Your engine will not have full power because your ecu wont have the fuel settings the same as the 3.0 maps. I replaced my 2.5 with a 3.0 and kept the same ecu, but having a race with another 3.0 and lost quite drastically so i bought a 3.0 ecu, and now both cars kept next to each other down a 1 mile stretch of road! You'll see what i mean if you get the chance to race with another 3.0
