I have followed all your posts and I'm not surprised you got this to work. It looks fantastic! My Android head unit is slowing down and I was looking at another unit but this is ideal. How difficult was it to get everything working once you got it to fit properly? How much is this after market unit?

well they got back to me and rolled out a new unit that fits perfect , so they want me to test that also

 

Why opt for the 4GB over the 6GB for $100 additional?

 

i have the 6gb of ram in my xf absolutely no difference

 

In time, with software updates (assuming there are at least a few, this being and Android product), RAM is often consumed and could be a factor, down the road.

I understand your concern but the 6gb of ram is a scam, be there done that I've tested many units claiming 6gb of ram,all has fallen short if you watch my videos

I watched all your YouTube vids and love them! I have a 2005 x-type Vanden Plas with the premium sound system (like yours?). A few questions:

1. Does this unit work with the premium sound system? I know I will lose the nav DVD and CD players in the stack and in the trunk.
2. Will it work with the OEM amplifier?
3. Will I need to run a new harness from the back of the car to the front?
4. Do you know if they are shipping the x-type specific unit instead of the s-type unit you used?

This works perfect with premium sound system with amplifier
you will not need a harness everything comes in the kit
they did not finalize the x-type specific unit ,its for the xj you will have to still trim it
for those who don't have the premium amp , the the plug for that i think is back there ,if not you will have to get a headunit adapter for the speakers and then your good
you just need the speaker connections easy job, also ill do a video for the guys with the no amp feature

Hi Dennis just watched your install on xtype do you know if it can be done with a model with the basic stereo not the satnav version??

 

yes it can , it als has pre amp out if you want to install a 4 channel amp

I bought aliexpress. I paid 900 euros. Everything works fine, only the top buttons don't work because there are no soldered contacts 😂 DID YOU KNOW WHERE TO BUY SUCH CONTACTS?

 

Yes a few subscribers were complaining about the Aliexpress units , heres a pic what it should look like, and tell them if they can get one for you, if they wont ill try and get you one
