Hi - Admittedly this is from limited data, but still, I'm going with it. This sudden limp mode has happened to me three times, all on the highway with cruise engaged, within a period of a couple of months. The last time was about four years ago. I decided to stop using cruise control, and it has not happened since. I'm also too chicken to try again, and risk going into an unrecoverable limp. Just my explanation, but how exactly it's linked to cruise control remains a mystery.
