SO I have been trying to fix this issue since I bought my '05. My transmission is not slipping, however, when in gear when I take my foot off of the accelerator the RPMs drop to idle like the car is in neutral. This does not happen in Drive, only in 1,2,3,4. Once it shifts out of drive to 4, it drops down to about 600 rpm. I have also noticed when I put it in D and let it shift on its own, it shifts quick and very hard going to 2, smooth in to 3, and rough again in to 4th. Fluid levels are fine, transfer case was just replaced a little over a month ago. Any Ideas? 2005 X Type 3.0L Automatic

 

Change the transmission fluid.
