Question for anyone who can help. I have an 02 X-type 3.0 with auto transmission. As we all know, Ford was the maker for those few years, and I am tearing my transmission down, and I like to do my homework and save money if possible. Does anyone know if there is a compatible transmission and/or transfer case to this year model and type. When I replaced my water pump, I bought a new one that was a Ford Taurus, though it said it was not compatible, I did my research and found out that it was. 2002 X-Type 3.0 automatic AWD is what I have, Thanks in advance...

Datdude, as for the transfer case, you are not going to find a replacement as this was a one off setup made just for the Jag.

As for a matching tranny, that would require a bit of looking. I know any tranny from a Duratec 3.0L motor will bolt up. The question comes as to whether the transfer case will bolt to that or not.

I believe all X-Type automatic transmissions are identical and Japanese made. JATCO JF506E.


Some say the VW Jetta 1999-2004 uses the same transmission.
