Default TV ?

Has anyone successfully installed a tv tuner into their X ? I want to try and connect a dvd player/tv tuner to the factory nav system screen. Anybody know if this is possible, or is it not worth the headache ?

There is anormal RGB+sync link between the DVD unit for the sat nav (which provides all of the display functions/video) and the touch screen display. If you put a video switch inline on that link than you can switch whatever feed you like onto the front display.

result Ihave been after a way to do this with my S. Now anyone know if you can get a switch that you can control emotely. So that you could select TV/DVD or sat nav without climbing in the boot?

Sound would either be wired directly into your system (or using the ACM as an input source), or via FM modulation (wired or wireless).

As for the switch, I can't recommend a specific model because the one I have used isn't branded. It was supplied as an OEM part to a specialist ICE fitter friend of mine. However any switch with at least one RGB in and one RGB out, as well as any component inputs or whatever your DVD player and TV tuner output, would work. Most that are designed for car use will comes with a remoteIR eye on a long wire, and a remote control, which can be used to control it. It might be possible to get an RF one too, then you could mount the remote control on your dash somewhere hidden.

One thing that is important to note... the sat nav DVD unit in your boot handles all of the touch screen functions, including processing touches/clicks on the screen and translating them into their coresponding commands. When you replace the video with your own the screen will still think it is showing the official menu or screen depending on what was selected on the mode selection buttons, so touching the screen will still trigger those actions. That can be useful for some things, like being able to touch the bottom right of the screen to answer/end phone calls, or to repeat navigation guidance if you remember which mode it was in, but it can also be confusing too!

Nice one. Already have an FM modulator so this is the easiest way to go for sound. I guess I would not be able to use the ACM as my car has a 6 CD changer?Anyone recommendations on where to get the splitter. Cannot seem to find anything on line. But then probably not typing in the correct words
