UK owners can obtain the latter fluid from the online Ravenol UK shop as 'Ravenol JF506E' fluid and it is specifically specced for the older X-Type, and reasonably priced at <£9.99 a litre. Ravenol are well known in motor racing circles and are a German company.
You will see from the spec that it conforms to Jaguar part number C2S12120
The amount of oil which will drain is maxed at about 5 litres, in fact I find mine only drops three litres and has to be left overnight before the extra 2 litres run out. Nevertheless proper fluid change done by a professional transmission specialist will use a machine which effectively removes all the old oil.
