I'll start the list........

1)- relocated the heated seat controls to the center console above the climate unit, rather than being down on the seats.

2)- added a second cupholder.

3)- changed the trunk trim and keyhole.

4)- changed the wheels design.

5)- changed the upper and lower grill in the front.

6)- changed the interior wood trim options.

7)- perforated seat option added.

8)- changed the interior and exterior color options

I think seat heater switches were always up above the radio, next to the hazard switch.

I had an 03, and ,now, have an 06. Some things I noticed they've changed between the two model years ;
1. The battery box cover was redesigned.
2. The AC condensor coil is much sturdier on the 06.
3. The rear calipers are shaped a little different, and, the front and rear brake pads are different - much less brake dust. The brakes are also more effective.
4. The big plastic engine cover was deleted.
5. The rear suspension has been modified some what - it looks different.
6. The defroster vents have been redone so they don't "pop" loose anymore.
7. The steering wheel and its controls have been changed. Easier to use cruise control buttons.
8. The drive shaft in my 06 is made differently from the one in the 03.
9. The fuel pump/sending unit assembly is different in the later model from the 03.
10. They've done something to the aspirator fan in the dash on the 06 - you no longer hear it hum when the car's turned off.

I always figured the cars without the heated seat switches around the hazard button just didn't have them.
So at one point there were heated seat buttons on the side of the seat? or no?..

also lost viscous coupling .. in the transfer box.. so the non viscous are more prone to failure.. the right side bearing pops out and pushes the link shaft and cv shaft outwards

I think i have a hybrid. I have the lumber switch on the side but i have 2 cupholders i also have aguilas and no trunk release inside the car, only the round button under the lip of the trunk. when i researched the car i read that 04's had the 18in wheels so i felt a lil ripped off. but the 2 cup holders come in handy though

Running changes are made all the time to fix common problems based on warranty data.

If there's no viscous compling any longer, is the center just an open diff?

IIRC, the X-Type's system initially split power 40/60, with the 60 to the rear. Did this remain the same?

i feel ripped b/c before they replaced my TC the thing stuck to the road...now when i get in a little rock or something the back tires spin and the front do not. I knew something was fishy...i have an inbetween car...so a lot of my stuff is different than other 04's i have seen.
