What is the warranty on a Jaguar?

Hello,
I have three questions:
1) What is the warranty on Jaguars, by age and/or mileage?
2) Is it the same for all Ford Models such as Range Rover, etc. or does it vary?
3) How has it changed in the last X number of years for various models?
Thank you.
factory warranty is bumper to bumper, 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. you can also purchase an extended warranty to 75,000 miles and certicifed pre-owned vehicles come with a 6 year or 100,000 mile warranty.

(1) Ref the posting above - that's assuming that you live in the USA and Canada.
The warranty comes with a free servicing and maintenance package at your local dealer, and this also applies to used cars (I'm not sure if there are any limitations; I bought mine used from a Jaguar dealer via ebay and all the benefits remained).
Some dealers offer the extended warranty to 6 years 100000 miles as part of the deal; expect to pay $1600+ if you want to purchase this.
I'm not sure all this applies in Europe.
(2) Ford don't offer this package. I'm not sure about Land Rover, Volvo, Aston Martin, Lincoln or Mercury. Each marketing division is independant and offers what they feel they need.
The design life (i.e what we engineer to, not what the car companies offer) is 6 years, 100000 miles, mostly driven by legislation / government rules. This will alter to significantly more by 2010MY.
(3) Er - I don't know how to answer this question; its a bit broad (do you mean 1960's Mustangs - I don't think so).
What I can say is that there has been extra effort to ensure customer satisfaction for X types as the vehicle didn't turn out to be as popular as Jaguar hoped (they planned 100000 a year but never exceeded 65000 globally). So the extended warranty and maintenance deal is not bad.
The X type has major changes at 2004.5MY and 2006MY, with other engineering and marketing packages at each annual MY as well. The new price was reduced significantly at 2004MY - both the sticker price and the bundle of options included, but it hasn't translated much into a step in used prices. You can tell the difference between a 2004 and a 2004.5 by looking at the photo of the steering wheel - the latter has the current design. 2005 was a rearrangement of the trim options and 2006 was full of hidden engineering changes and more $$$ content for the same price.
The used price of an X type is very good compared with its competition when compared $ per $, feature per feature..
If you are undecided what to look at - see the recent postings under the headings "2.5L vs 3.0L" and "Considering new X type Thoughts?" in this forum.

I have an 02 and if i would have had less than 50,000 miles the guy at jaguar warranties or the 1800 line I called for jag said the warranty would have been 2500 us dollars. i would have purchased the warranty in a heartbeat had I been able to. NOBODY i mean NOBODY could touch this price plus it was from jag and for jag dealers. Oh well just makes me take better care of her!

I called Jaguar and found out the X-type I just purchased has a 6 year 100,000 mile warrenty. (it's a june 2002 model with 65,000) What exactly do I get with this warrenty? they couldn't tell me on the phone and didn't seem to interested in sending me any literature either. I was thinking of bringing it to the dealer to have it checked out but I'm thinking that a normal checkup isn't covered by warrenty.
I also think I may have an issue with the backup assist function. All it does is beep when I first put it in reverse then nothing. I had my GF stand behind me until I backed all the way up against her. nothing happend... except her yelling at me
Do you think it is broken(No not my GF my car!) and do you think the Jaguar dealer will look at it for free?

there should only be a seady beep when something is very close to the rear. when you are more than a few feet away from anything it is silent when you engage reverse gear. as you approach something, it starts to beep slowly and then faster as you get closer. finally it beeps steady when you are a few inches from touching a wall.
so ya sounds like something is wrong, most obvious is one sensor is blocked or broken. Hope it is covered by the warranty!!

I think it could be the reverse park module in the spare wheel well in the boot.If it was one sensor the other 3 should still work.Check the connections on that first as it takes seconds to do.I upgraded to Jag reverse park last year and mine is silent when selecting reverse and gradually beeps get faster the closer you get to something until you are about 6 inches away then its a continuous beep.

Your '02 X-type came with a 3 yr/40K mile warranty. Anything beyond that is an extended plan that required an additional purchase (about $2000 US). The factory warrranty included free oil changes once every 10,000 miles.

Ive got the same issue as CRAZCAT, it seems to work sometimes and other times I dont get anything!! Where exactly is that module located again??
