Where are AirBag Sensors???
Hi guys.
I just bought me a 2005 Jaguar X-type 3.0 with some light light damage to the front, but the DRIVER airbag deployed and the one by the driver feet.
Where are the AirBag sensors located in the car and where are the airbag modules??
What do I have to replace to make the airbag light go away??

slvdvc, the air bag impact sensors are located in the following places:
1) centerline of the car, in front of the radiator but behind the grille (crash sensor)
2) driver's side of the car, on the B-pillar, down near the floor, behind the plastic trim (probably need to remove the seat to access)
3) passenger side of car, on the B-pillar, down near the floor, behind the plastic trim (probably need to remove the seat to access)
As for the air bag module, that is located in the center console, just forward of the gear shifter/under the ash tray.
As for what you need to replace to get the air bag system working again, at a minimum you will need to replace any/all air bags that have deployed. So, in your case, that sounds just like 2 (steering wheel and the driver's footwell)

svldvc, seatbelts are kind of a questionable thing. They are normally made of nylon and they are rated to be able to withstand a very large shock load. But the thing is, after a shock load, there may be internally broken strands, greatly reducing their overall strength. But, I would venture to guess that since you are still able to drive the car, that the stress the seatbelts sustained wasn't that bad. I can tell you that the shock that they would have seen was atleast over 5G's as that is what the shock sensors are set for before they will send a signal to the airbag system. So, to put that into perspective, if a 200 pound person was driving the car during the accident, that means the belt was subjected to atleast a 1,000 pound shock load, potentially upwards of 2,000 pounds (10 G shock) or more. So, I will leave that up to you.

Yeah, thank you so much Thermo.
You sure do know A LOT about Jags!!
I think I'll go ahead and replace the belts too while I'm at it..just to be on the safe side.
Because I've heard that on some cars that if airbag deploys...seat belts need to be changed out or airbag light won't go away from dash.
