Default Where is engine number located on block?

I need to know my engine number for parts that changed mid model year of 2004 - in this case PCV valve. I researched that the engine number is on block and it's near where oil filter is. I have located a number by oil filter adapter which looks to be laser etched into the engine. In my case this number is nine digits and then is followed by initials WL. My SNG Barratt catalog has a notes section to record serial number and engine number, etc and they show ten boxes/digits for the engine number. Am I looking in the right place to find the engine number and does my nine digit number with WL sound like if found the correct one? Thanks

According to the tech manual the location is as follows:

Engine Number (V6)
The engine number is stamped on an engine web on the right hand side of the cylinder block behind the engine mounting..

Found this six digit number on engine block near the oil filter: 450103WL. Anybody know what WL stands for? I'm thinking it's code for the Ford engine plant.

Yes mine ends with initials WL also. I would like to know what that stands for as well. You sure you aren't missing a few digits? I found in owners manual where it does say our serial number is where you found it near oil filter mounting point and should be 9 digits.
