whining sound on start-up 2007 Jaguar X-Type
Hi,
I've had a number of issues with my 2007 X-Type, which I bought used in the summer of 2020. I love the car in spite of the issues and would hate to learn that it's really breaking down on me.
I live in Toronto, Canada. Winter is here. It's cold. Recently, I've noted a whining sound on start-up which keeps going until the car warms up. Or so it seems. The whine is high pitched. It increases when I make a turn and the vibrations from the whine can be felt in the gear shift.
Is it a belt? Or is it this something to really worry about?
Any insights would be welcome!
Thanks,
David

I think I have seen other members reporting similar issues in which it was suggested a belt was at fault.....age hardened and becoming noisy until it softened with rotation again.
If you don't know when your belts were last replaced, probably a good place to start and relatively cheap bit of preventative maintenance too.
