Wierd noise under shifter in center column

Wierd noise under shifter in center column
2004 3.0 AWD - At certain point of acceleration there is "rattle" coming from somewhere under the shifter. It tends to happen during acceleration around 30mph and 50mph. Does not do it at highway speeds or when decelerating through those speeds.
Any ideas?

possible loose heat shield ? I had the same problem with my '01 Focus - I just removed the loose metal sheet and the problem disappeared.
