Red face Windshield washer nozzles

So, odd thing, they worked yesterday, not today. Opened hood (bonnet) and there dangling on the passenger side (LHD) was the connection to the nozzle. The male end on the nozzle still in the rubber tube. Inspection was done and as I handled the hoses, every plastic insert, connection, what appears to be one way back check valves, disintegrated in touching them. I suppose 12 years of engine heat just killed them.

No OEM readily available (today!) I bought dorman universal type at O'Reilly's ($11.00 lists @ $13.00). Got them installed just fine with the caution of be AWFULLY CAREFUL attaching the "nut" provided to the nozzle through the tiny hole on the underside of the hood. (The nut attached to the male tube insert of the sprayer head from underneath the hood hole). You lose that nut and it's bye-bye.

The spray on these universal units is adjustable up, down, left, right, and volumn (with a provided skate key looking thing). I did not even try finding the odd little button "one way" check valve things

What I really like is the pattern is a mist and actually if you had one nozzle centered in the middle of the hood it would cover the entire windshield.

With some adjustment(s), it is misting the entire windshield each use in a MUCH better coverage and volumn of fluid.

I think I actually figured out why the back check valves are there. It keeps fluid in the lines over the heated engine and during winter that's how you have "heated" windshield washer fluid. I know after driving to the parts store then working on them. The damn things were plenty hot!
