are you saying the "auto" wipers arent working? if so is the switch set to auto and lifted on click? it wont work if only set to auto.. it has to be lifted one click.

switch is a input to a GEM (computer) and Gem controls the output to the wiper relays..
either switch or Gem

I have a similar problem. somebody suggested it may be a parking problem?
Jag_Genius: how do i check to see if its the switch or the GEM computer? is this something a rookie (non mechanic) can check or do you need a computer and or skilled mechanic?

thanks!

lol Bo.

Wiper park and intermittent wipe are two different problems in two different areas. Genius said about the intermittent one.
If your wipers will not park, X-Type parks wipers based on a resistance value. If they are not parking normally, ie in middle of windshield, you probably need a wiper motor.

Hey guys I have the same problem. but that indie shop is too far for me since i'm in the US. can anyone kindly guide me to where I can look for this relay??

secondly my washer fluid is squirting out almost nothing as if there is not enough pressure. I do hear the motor running to squirt out the fluid and the tank is full but not enough pressure? any takers on this problem?

thanks!

Relay # 4 in the front power dist. box. Drivers side behind headlamp.
Look at the washer hose under hood leading to the nozzles. Very visible. See if it is broken.

Hello here is a quick update:

I believe I have the same problem as cutlp. I pulled out R1 Relay and put it back in, my intermittent and the quick 1 wipe was working perfectly, but after a few more tries, it stopped. My question is, how do I test a relay if it is bad? I would like to test this relay before buying a new one? can i bring it a to a jag dealer would they test it for me?

secondly, in regards to my wiper fluid, it will squirt out fluid perfectly if my hood is opened up, there is alot of spray. but once I close the hood, there is no spray coming out as if there is no power, only drips. I checked the visible hoses and they look fine? any other ideas?

thanks in advance, this site has been very helpful in maintaining my cat!

The wiper relay is a standard automotive relay. You can buy them anywhere. The relays in my X are all Ford parts.

If the spray works with the hood open, the problem is likely not electrical. I would look harder for a leaking hose or cracked fitting.

or maybe the lines bend and crimp when you close the hood. thus stoping the fluid.
