X type 2.0 v6 starting problem
Hi I have a 2002 x type 2.0 petrol which isn't starting! I drove the car Friday night no problems, when I went to it the next day the car was turning over but wouldn't fire. I called the AA and they said the ecu is switching to the injectors but no to the coils, in turn this isn't priming the fuel pump ( can't hear it when when you turn ignition on). Has anybody else had this problem? Any help would be very much appreciated thanks

Carlossus, Welcome to the Forums. Lots of good info here. Sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee. We will get you going in the right direction.
Based on what you are describing, it is sounding like something related to the fuel pump. A quick check that you can do is to get a hammer or something and strike the fuel tank where the fuel pump sits (you don't want to damage the tank, but give it a good thump). Then see if the car will start. If yes, then your fuel pump is on its way out. You may have also noticed that the car would go into bits and spurts where it would be harder to start and would require a few seconds of cranking before it would catch.
I would then try resetting the inertia switch to make sure that the switch didn't get accidentally set off and it is now blocking power going to the fuel pump.
After that, how are you with a multimeter? I can give you step by step instructions on how to prove power to the fuel pump.
