X-Type 2005 Acceleration Issue
I have no power when I try to suddenly accelerate by pushing the gas pedal all the way down. I have a 3.0L automatic. The engine stutters and then eventually I get power back. It’s dangerous when trying to cross an intersection or pass another car. As long as I drive conservatively the car drives ok!
The engine light is on. Not sure why. I changed the front oxygen sensors hoping the motor ucon would go away. It passed inspection that way, but as the car is 15 years old with only 75K miles, maybe I should change the other 2 sensors?
What could be the problem?

JagHU, get the codes read. That will tell us a lot. From the sounds of things, you probably have been having a lot of rain and you have gotten some water on top of the engine and it is causing a cylinder to misfire. That, or, one of your plug wells has developed a leak and it is getting slowly filled up with oil, leading to a misfire condition. Unfortunately, the wells that have the biggest issue are the ones on the back side of the engine, so, you need to pull the top half of the intake off to access them. I would start with doing a plug change (you are close enough, might as well take advantage of having the intake off). See what you see and then go from there. IF you want a more solid answer, get the code(s) read and post it here. That will tell us a lot about what is going on. I am placing money that you are getting a P0303 code.
