The camshaft sprocket tells the ECU a ballpark location of where the engine is in its rotation (the crankshaft position indicator does this more accurately). On a variable valve timed engine, this is needed information so the computer knows how far the valve timing is in relation to the ignition timing.

There is a loss of traction problem on our car. Also we hear a noise while engine run. we pull the engine again but the noise still there. we are thinking abaout change the piece which it called 'Camshaft sporocket' But we dont know what does this part of the engine. can you explain that to us, or do you have any suggestion?
