X type (53 plate) clock/radio display lights
Hi all
The light(s) in the radio/clock display do (does) not function, so it is impossible to see time/radio settings at night. is there an easy way / is it possible to change the bulb(s) please? It is a standard jag radio.

I have the same problem with my 03 plate X type. Have checked with my local dealer but they could not find any mention of bulbs in their reference documents. Spare parts section suggested failed led. Is there anybody who can assist. The display is quite clear during daylight hours.
My 96 XJ suffered the same problem, upon taking apart the bulbs were replaceable.
I can't remember the exact type but they were not listed at Jaguar either, but were available from various sources on the net.
The only way to find out is to remove it, you may have to remove the back cover as well

Thank you for your advice mikesmith2. I have had the unit out of the dash but didn't feel inclined to dismantle until I was sure that I wasn't completely wasting my time. As it is not a major issue I will probably wait until later in the year for better weather and longer daylight hours. The only concern I have is the 7 year age gap in our vehicles; changes in electrical equipment have been enormous in the past few years.
