I noticed a puddle under the car in the parking.lot. When I got back home, I checked under the car. The leak seems to be coming out of what looks like a breather pipe. It comes out of the back of the engine bay where a pipe goes through in to what I assume, must be the heater/ac unit. The water coming out is cold.even when the car has been running for some time.
The Heater a/c controls are not working as the entire central panel including the screen is not working.
The problem is that I am now in France and need to drive 1,200 mile to get home.
Can I just unplug the ac fuses and the heater fuses and hope for the best? Where is the water reservoir for the ac?
Any suggestions welcome.
Cheers Steve.
If you are wanting to disable the possibility of your AC working for your return leg of your trip, then probably the easiest option is to temporarily remove the AC clutch relay from the power distribution box in the bonnet. (See picture inserted below).
It is a small relay that simply can be temporarily pulled out and set aside if you wish.
As for the water coming out, it is likely just condensation from the AC condenser in your heater assembly core....totally normal for that to be discharging small amounts of water.
As long as the water you are getting discharged has no antifreeze in it, then it is not coming from your engine cooling system, which would rule out you having a physical heater core failure.
The loss of your climate control display is a different matter. That could be a result of a copper track failure in the climate controller PCB (which if you search the forum you will see this failure discussed and some pictures of what other members have found).
Good luck with your trip home.
