Question Xtype

I have recently acquired a 2003,2.1ltr,petrol Xtype Jag. 69000 miles.
It starts and runs very well.
I have noticed a puffing popping noise coming from the air intake area of the radiator. It is louder when engine is cold.
Any idea what may be the cause?

oldgimmer, sounds like the air filter is dirty and needs to be replaced. what you are hearing is the intake drawing a vacuum on the air box and it is collapsing slightly and when the intake can catch up, the air box flexes a little (as it relaxes) and this causes the pop that you are hearing.

I agree with Thermo about the engine air filter. Is your engine coolant at correct level and serviceable?
