Default Xtype of unknown vintage in Houston chase

Not a question, but certainly directly relevant to the X-Type crowd...

Man driving a Jaguar leads police on high-speed chase, ending in crash and criminal charges - Houston Chronicle

From the photo, looks like a model with a moonroof. Reflection on the bumper suggests chrome inserts, so not a sport edition. Will likely be available at auction within the next six to eight months, if not sooner, given that few arrested persons ever reclaim vehicles from impound in felony offenses.

It isn't identified in the article as an X-Type but it sure looks to be one. Sadly, with where they show it coming to a rest, I am guessing it was up and over the curb, so I would expect substantial suspension damage. At least from the front, it does not appear that there was much body damage from the curb jump.

Wasn't much of an attempt to evade if they didn't hit 90 given that many in that area routinely run 70-75MPH and speed limits are 60-65MPH.

I am curious where the claim of 'profiling' came from that the driver/suspect has tried to advance unless it is the perception that only non-Hispanic white people drive Jaguars, no matter the vintage or make.

That's definitely an X-Type....and a totaled one. Apparently you did not see the video showing the left rear caved in. That thing is only good for parts now unless someone wants to spend a ton of time and money to get it working again. Cheaper and easier to find one that wasn't crashed and already running.

And btw, where in Houston do they drive so slowly as 75? Maybe during the massive commuter gridlock, lol.

You are correct...I did not see the left rear. I just saw the stills from the front.

May still be worth looking at for interior parting out if someone was local and had the time to do that. No cost to go TO the auctions...
