New to me XE I added to the fleet. Noticed right off the drivers door had an unsatisfactory clunk after the door was closed. Then I noticed my '17 F-Pace did the same thing albeit less prominent. Asked a dealer tech about it and he said the outer door skin has adhesive between it and the intrusion beam which has failed, allowing the skin to slam against the beam.
Removed the trim panel again (already had it off for sound deadening) and removed the inspection hatch on the inner door structure. Happy to see it didn't have adhesive but just a bunch of broad headed screws.
Gap between outer skin and beam was huge and ran the entire length of the beam.
Grabbed my butyl tape and rolled a couple butyl ropes and stuffed it into the crack. Had to double it up in a couple places. No extra clunk now.
