Default Knock / Compression Loss / TC Problems

2015 XE Rsport (61000 miles) Got a bad knock from my engine taken it to the garage and one piston is down on compression 100/125/125/125 across the 4 cylinders

Initially I believed the knock initially to be timing chain related due to posts on these forums and videos where the knock sounds exactly the same.

Here comes the dilemma I’m already £1500 into the repair and if I decided to change the chain is another £2000, 2 garages the car has been to has said it may fix the compression but can’t guarantee it will.

Im asking if anyone has had the same case where possibly due to a slack chain the overhead Cam is not working as it should maybe not shutting an Inlet/Outlet valve, where replacing the chain has sorted this problem.

Things to note
Apart from the noise car drives fine plenty of power feels no different.
Changed oil ran through a civ oil was in bad shape however no fillings Metal or Plastic (chain guides?)
Knock doesn’t start until the engine is up to temperature.

Obviously I don’t wanna be £3500 into a repair and the engine still be dead so am stuck on what to try. Got quoted £6k for a new engine for a car worth just shy of £9k is not really an option.
