Hello! I have a 2017 Jaguar XE that I was attempting to trade in due to major issues with the electrical system and door locks. This morning I was on my way to an appointment. Having just gotten onto the interstate, I tried to accelerate, and heard/felt a pop and a minor jolt. I immediately knew something was not right and I put on my hazards and slowed to about 30 mph. The car was resisting acceleration and couldn’t get over the speed i was driving it. The steering wheel felt a tad tighter than usual. I pulled into a gas station and suddenly the engine light came on and the gear shift started blinking, at which point the car threw itself into reverse while in DRIVE.

im a broke college student in a car way out of my league. I am thinking transmission, unfortunately.

 

The first thing I’d do is try to fully charge the battery and perhaps replace it.
