I agree on the wood. Love the dark oak in mine. From the interiors of the new XFs I've seen in person and in photos it looks like the wood content is definitely reduced and that makes me a little sad.

Or even not in the same price class. 2 years ago I was supposed to have an XF as a rental, but the previous renter got T boned on the way to returning the car, so I got a Mercedes E250 CDi instead. Had a 2.1 4 cylinder diesel and compared to the XE ( and particularly the XF 3.0D) the Merc was very agricultural. Massive turbo lag from idle, the XE is light years ahead of the Merc.

I know why I drive Jaguars after driving the MB, it was not a nice car to drive, even leaving out the engine's poor performance.

The 3.0TT in the XF is just awesome. No diesel clatter at all, with only a "whoosh" noise under the hammer. And quite quick - 0 - 100kph in about 6 seconds, with zero lag. It was better performing than the 4.2 litre petrol V8, but didnt sound as good.
