Default New Vanity Plate

Just attached a new vanity plate to the XE. I am into wine and thought this was fitting!

Looks good! Is your car debadged or is that how they come in the US?

My plates reference my S60R which I had 10 years ago now. I was tempted to replace them with 00-FKS if it was available, but I'd probably be the only person who thinks it is funny.

I debadged it. It had something on both sides; it really wasn't doing much for me so off it went. I did the same on the XK. It's not like those badges were design elements like the center badge.

It would be kind of neat to replace the leaper with a growler emblem. Has anyone done this?

Colour matched to suit wine as well, very nice.
I do like the debadged look. I didn't realise the badges were only glued on, I thought they were riveted on.
So, do you just lever the badge off and buff it smooth?

I use a heat gun with dental floss and my finger nail to carefully lift it. Comes off clean, make sure not to dig into the paint if using finger nail. I touch up with lighter fluid after and just polish, wax, etc... after.

It's a Mini licensed product I bought from the local Mini/BMW dealer. Not cheap either! Had it previously on the Evora. XE has just top license plate screws, so make sure to get the plastic lower short screws to keep the frame correct.

I washed area first, used a heat gun and finger nail get letters off. Sometimes I use dental floss to lift the letters. I wipe some lighter fluid to remove any residual adhesive and then run the buffer over area to complete it.
