XES, dreadful whirring like a sewing machine !
I have had 24 hr test drives with two XE S launch cars and both have this dreadful whirring coming from centre air vents / engine bay.
It sounds like like "cam whirring", coming through the air vents and is unacceptable on a car of this nature.
The sound occurs randomly when cold, then seems to disappear when cruising.
I have raised it with dealers and said I want an answer 'before' placing an order they come over all ignorant, i.e. "Jaguar haven't raised the issue so it doesn't exist" ! ! ! !.
Now we absolutely LOVE the way that the XES drives but a little voice in me says this issue is being "stonewalled".
Have any of you experienced this noise with the cars you own???, if so, have you had an 'intelligent' response from Jaguar?

Sounds very annoying, but we dont get that at all. We have the 25T.
The engine note when accelerating is a little bit buzzy though which doesnt sound very nice, but from the outside it sounds good.

Ok thanks, I did not realise you don't have the 30l supercharged in the US yet.
Probably Jaguar are testing the car on us Brits first, lets hope they fix the issue for your US vehicles . . . .

Sorry, my post was confusing. I'm from Oz - we have the full range here but the "we" in my earlier post was my household...we have had our 25T since the beginning of December.
The US dont have the car yet, they are just getting pre release models there.

Ok, now I'm with you. JLR are 'possibly' being clever, by testing the vehicles on UK and Oz, before launching in the US.
They probably cant cope with US warranty issues (e.g. the Audi 2.7 S4 issues in the US).
I am hoping JLR are clever and are (watching these posts and resolving issues!!!!) as they go along.
The XES chassis is completely brilliant, and we applaud them for meeting and beating the german marques head on.
But can JLR step up to the BMW "quality in every detail" - and also control a "back-street network of Jag dealers" ??
I hope so, otherwise they are always destined to supply crazy Range Rovers to Arabia.

Yes, I think that they learned their lesson with the XF which had a number of teething issues. The US market seems to be enormously sensitive to reliability (and I dont mean that in a bad way) whereas I dont think it is to anywhere near the same degree in Oz. We also dont have as robust lemon laws in Oz. But the different mindset was obvious on the UK XF forum in the early days.
All of that said, I havent seen anything from the XE which would warrant any reliability concerns, and you are right about the chassis - the car is an absolute pleasure to drive.

its getting a bit old though...why does the US have the new XF which was introduced later then the XE??? Get on with it Jaguar!!

Jag did not want to release XE in US until the 4WD version was available.
dWhich was incredibly smart because the primary competition will be the BMW 3- and 4-series available w/ X-Drive, and the MB C-Class w/ 4MATIC.
