Default 2018 Sportbrake - Rear Hatch Box - Empty

Hello, inspecting my Sportbrake - love the car.. In the rear hatch there is a rectangle storage box, however nothing is in it. Does anyone know what this is for? Should something be in it, maybe equipment for the spare tire? Pics below.

I'm curious about this too. Also have 2018 Sportbrake and noticed that panel. My guess was its covering fasteners for the panel.

I looked in the owners manual and there is no mention of it that I can see.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Is it big enough for a fire extinguisher? I believe in some European countries a fire extinguisher is required. I don't have the sportbrake, just the sedan, and can't tell how big the space is so, this is just a guess.

From what I can tell an extinguisher would be mounted under the driver's seat. That's what the Jaguar accessories and spare parts seem to indicate.

It could be the storage for the folding emergency triangle, a mandatory equipment in most European countries.
