I'm just looking for some feedback on any direct experience had with losing there only key fob on a 2016 XF or similar and received an outrageous quote at the dealership. I just got off the phone with the mechanic at the local dealership and he quoted $3500!

I did my due diligence here on this forum prior to posting this and read through some threads having similar experiences but not quite to this gravity. He is saying that the system is armed and that why it's the price it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I certainly will. Do you have any idea what something like the should cost based on knowledge and experience?

 

I don't know what it should be for a 2016 XF but I can tell you that I heard a new OEM key fob for a Bentley Arnage is around $800. This should put into perspective how utterly ridiculous the quote you received is.

 

I had the same issue. I was quoted $650 USD from Jaguar of Tampa. Not sure if that is good or not as this was the only opinion I sought.

 

My dad makes smart key fobs for living. I recently bought a ‘16 XF prestige. 36k miles for 22k off the lot with warranty. It only came with one key fob. He programmed a second and third key fob for $230 w/ just calling the a jaguar dealer for help.
