MB E 400 vs. XF Sportbrake
Not sure when it is scheduled to be at dealers, but it was on display at the San Francisco auto show the past few weeks. I tried to see it but couldn’t find time. It will be at the Los Angeles auto show starting Friday. I am hearing a lot of positive things about it other than the price.
In the old i.e. William Lyons days price was always a Jaguar selling point. You could count on Jaguar underpricing Porsche and Benz.

My experience with negotiating on two Jaguars is that the MSRP is a mere suggestion and you can get a huge discount if you try. The high MSRP probably keeps people from trying, though. I doubt early adopters buying the sportbrake will see good deals until the newness wears off or dealers get too many and they start to sit.
Agreed. Jag puts an appropriately prestigious price on the cars, but the dealers are able to drastically discount the merchandise to get it out the door and protect Jag's small market share. Given the size of the market for 75K wagons I expect the discount pricing will not be far off.

They have arrived. The local one is 80.2K. Benz is safe. Strikes me that the XFS wagon will have a life of about two years. To stay in the wagon market after that the range is going to have to be expanded to include the base model and probably the four banger. I’ll go look at it but at 10 grand over a P-3 E 400 it’s a nonstarter for me
