Default Minor annoyance...

The plastic cover for the deck lid latching mechanism falls off. There's two "catches" and one broke off. While I was at the service department another XF owner said the same thing happened to him. Part ordered and when it arrives....next Tuesday they say...I'll see if it's improved any.

I had the same problem. The replacement has fixed the problem so far.

Good to hear. I'll try and get a look at the replacement piece before they put it on to see if they made any changes.

New part failed. The service advisor is researching. He's thinking of changing the whole latch mechanism along with the cover. I'm wondering if the electric trunk closer has anything to do with it.

Mine was replaced this past week and so far so good. They do fit tight and I wonder if the pins break from fatigue. They should be protected from damage but as you note, maybe the self closing feature has a part in it.

Anyone else have this problem with a non self closing trunk?

2 annoyances with my XF

1) The door frame is so low, I find I hit my head atleast once a week getting into the car.

2) They put the cheapest and flimsiest windshield wiper blades on the car. For a car almost 60k, I would expect a better grade of wipers.

I have had no problem with the non self closing one so far, but I rarely go in and out of the trunk.
