Default New Owner - First complaints

Liking becoming acquainted with my new XF but after week 1 I have to say what I don't like thus far.
  • Turn Signal sounds like my parents 1970's LTD
  • No compass!?!?!?

Just minor annoyances and overall I feel like much of the interior is well laid out. I'm shocked that there was no compass heading display in the rearview and even more shocked that I can't see anything on the GPS screens.

Many things I am enjoying about the car and looking forward to giving it a good wash with some warmer weather coming Northeast this week.

Turn signal sound? You're kidding me. Compass? For you the ocean is East. What else do you need to know? Not bad after a week. I bet the "like" list is a lot longer.

I'm not an XF owner, (yet) as I'm too poor for the current aluminium-based model, but my last X350 (XJ saloon) had a compass display in the rear-view mirror. My new X350, actually an X358 of 2007 doesn't have a compass, but I can't say I miss it all that much. The sat-nav in my car is on the setting where North is always at the top of the screen, so you can always see which direction you're headed by looking at the arrow for the car.

I like clicky turn signals which remind me they are on and working. As for a compass(!), I am hopeless at reading maps, following a compass direction or coordinates and simply keep a lovely lady in the passenger seat to work the Nav System and keep me going in the right direction. Hmm.

The loud click helps us to avoid reinforcing the stereotype.

For the compass, edit your Navigation's setting to pointing due north. This will make sure that car is always turning at the correct direction on the map.
