Default Purchasing a 2012 XF this week,, Please help

Hello Folks,,

As the title says, I am purchasing a 2012 XF portfolio with the 5.0 V8. I am just worried about the reliability on those. I have a 2004 Vanden Plas and the car gave me headaches because of the reliability. My problem is I love jags and simply refuse to own/drive any other brand.

So shoot me advice tips to what look for when buying the vehicle. I am buying it from a private owner but I was thinking about booking an appointment for the vehicle at a local dealership to inspect it before I purchase it.

Last,, what are the common problems for the 2012 XFs? especially the ones with the 5.0 engines? the one I am looking at right now is the owner of the vehicle told me it is going to need a water pump replaced but other than that the vehicle is in great running condition.

Thanks

I'd been looking to modernize too. Other than the water pump, I'd heard to look for the leather dash bubbling or pulling away due to the glue failing. Some 2012s also had a voluntary recall, something about the check engine warning coming on unnecessarily and supposedly a firmware reflash was needed at the dealership. But my x308 has been a rock until just recently. In fact, nothing broke the first 12 years and 80,000 miles except for the steering wheel position adjustment motor which was taken care of under warranty. I can't complain as its 17 years old now and Texas heat and sun has taken its toll on every piece of plastic, rubber and vinyl.

I put 45K miles on a 2011 XF with the naturally aspirated V8 and it never gave me a moment of trouble until I drove it into floodwater and the engine drank it in. Totally my fault but I ended up getting a new one with the S/C V6. The V8 was rock solid, in my opinion.

You're asking on the wrong XF forum. You need XF and XFR ( X250 )
under Jaguar Models ( Modern )

Just try'n to be helpful... ;-)
