Default Strange Alarm and Loss of Electrics

Hello all,

First time post on here, so be gentle

I have a 2010 XF Premiun Luxury, and it has started to do strange things. An alarm has just started sounding (not the horn security alarm but a high pitched beeping from under the bonnet) It stopped after a few seconds, but then started again. The unlocking on the key fob would not work, and when I got in with the key, the car was completely dead.- that is there was nothing happening when I pushed the start button down, both with and without my foot on the brake. The high pitched alarm still went on and off. I got out and opened the bonnet and the high pitched alarm stopped and the security alarm sounded. Got back in the car and the electrics were back, but the clock and tripometer had reset. There was a warning to apply both the foot brake and the park brake. Did this, switched off the car and back on again, and everything was back to normal.

This is all a bit worrying, any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Maybe a good idea to post in the forum for your car ? This can be found in the forum section "Modern" jaguars. Yes it must be confusing but no more than the XJ cars which have been on the go since 1968, with five separate car series all having the same name !
