Default '15 XF Lowering spring installation

Hey guys, I'm new to the group. Just purchased my '15 XF 5.0 Supercharged. I've bought a set of H&R lowering springs and thought I could find a local shop to install them for a reasonable price but so far I'm getting quotes of around $700 (US). Based on that number I'm just going to do it myself. I've searched around for some threads on the installation process and not really found much. Is there anyone out there that has a list of the tools needed and possibly instructions on the front end in particular? I've done several coil spring installs in my day but this is my first Jag so thought I better gather as much info as possible before I tear into it.

Thanks!

If you have knowledge enough to do other coil springs, its pretty self explanatory. Remove assembly and clamp spring with tool. Remove nut and replace spring. Recommend mark spring coil ends for proper clocking when you re-install.

Try a spring/suspension specialty shop. Sometimes they focus on trucks but give em a call see what they say

If like me, you're experience is with muscle cars and up through the 80s, the cheap chinese threaded/hook type spring compressors probably aren't safe for this job. Your front springs are something like 385 in/lbs but up through the 90s, few cars had springs much over 250 so there's lots of tools made for the home hobbyist working on classic cars, but not so much for a modern, high performance cars. I got into a situation once where my old spring compressors were stripping out and I had to get another set of compressors on the spring so I could back them off safely. Imagine having four compressors around a spring and unscrewing each a little at a time with two of them cross-threaded. Took foreeeeevvvverr. You might take the units out, then take them to a shop with a hydraulic compressor, then reinstall them on the car yourself. That would save you some money. I just went ahead and paid a Jaguar shop to do my XF, about $800 as I recall so $700 is a bargain. I've thought about buying a hydraulic spring compressor, they're not terribly expensive, but my shop space is very crowded and that's a pretty good sized piece of equipment for no more often than I'd need it.

Also, go ahead and replace the hard rubber spring isolators at the same time. The originals have already conformed to the original spring and if you put new springs in with the old isolators, you risk getting squeaks that never settle in. I had to have them pull my left front and do it over again with a new isolator - another $200 because it wouldn't stop squeaking. We tried rotating it, resetting it several times, but it finally just had to come out and install a new isolator. Luckily the other three didn't squeak. But live and learn.

Phil,
You are correct in that I've done mostly muscle cars although I did do my son's 2003 Acura RSX and it wasn't bad. Did you do both the upper and lower isolators on yours?
Thanks,
Brett

The lowers came with my kit, but the uppers I had to order separately.
