Default 2.7d block heater

I have tried in vain to find a block heater for the XF 2.7d (presumably it would also fit an S-type or XJ with the same engine). Does anybody know of a supplier?

Alternatively, have anybody tried a heater hose unit e.g. Kenlowe?

-20C is no fun

With synthetic oil in the sump you won't need a block heater unless you expect minus 40 C. I never plug my cars in over here anymore as minus 36C is about as cold as it gets.

Having said that all Canadian spec XF come with a proper block heater installed either at the factory or at our dealers, I am unsure which. They exist and the male end of the plug is permanently mounted in the spoiler, my guess is this is factory fitted. It is the neatest block heater installation I have ever seen.

All you need to do is get your Norwegian dealer to find out which part number goes into these Canadian cars.

Use them already for higher temps ;-)

Prefer the Webasto fbh units, but I haven't seen a kit for jaguar (that is also able to turn on the fans inside) but you could always ask.

Guess there are plenty of eletrical options arround, here is just 1 manufacturer:
DEFA / WarmUp

The Jaguar 4.0/4.2 blocks have a possiblity/option to insert a eletrical heater element into the block (which I have), but I am not aware if this is also avaialble for the 2.7 diesel block (which as far as I know isn't available in Canada or the US).

We get only the gasoline fueled V8. Block heaters usually replace a "freeze plug" which is sometimes called a casting plug. All engine blocks have these.

The Webasto units are fueled and heat the cabin as well as the engine coolant jacket, I believe. In North America we fit electronic remote starters to achieve this result.

The webasto is indeed fueled (ie fbh = Fuel Burning Heater), but it only heats up the coolant. You still need to make a connection with the car electronics (in one way or another) to control the fans in the car, so it gets comfy in there too.

The Jaguar heater which is supposed to be used on the 2.7 diesel has a part no C2C38057. It is unusual in that instead of being a press fit into a core hole (frost plug hole) it is threaded while still of a typical core plug hole size. Anybody know where it is supposed to fit? Everything is covered by plastic shields and I don't want to remove anything needlessly.
