besides the boot lock being jammed, are the number plate lights still working? Had the issue on mine, and also a number plate bulb out, and had to replace the cable the connects the lock/number plate lights/reversing camera all up. Common issue on the older XF and the new cable is slightly longer by about an 1" to stop this happening.
