2011 Jaguar XF ECU question...
I have recently purchased a 2011 Jaguar XF - non SC. I bought it knowing that it has a flood/salvage title. The owner that I bought it from, has removed the original ECM; and replaced it with a used ECM from a junk yard. I know that Jags are a little more sophisticated, and that just "swapping" out the ECU will NOT allow the vehicle to respond or start. I'm sure that there is a little more programming involved. Anyway, I would like to know if I can buy an unprogrammed ECU, and take it to a Jaguar dealership and have it programmed to this Jaguar? I have found a company online- Goecu.com, and I can get one for $395. Of course, I have absolutely no idea what the dealership is going to charge for the programming. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be open to hear them. Thanks for looking

I would suggest you find an independent Jag shop in your area - they most probably have the same programming tools that the franchise dealer use anyway and are probably more "approachable" and cost effective for something like this.
Yes I had the same problem with my 2005 STR. Got a replacement ECU (used) and got all kinds of excuses from the dealer why this could not be done and I needed a $2500 ECU from Jaguar and that was the only way it could be done.
Utter BS!!!
Found a good Jaguar Indy and he did it in a morning and re-coded the keys too. Don't forget about that part.
